Perhaps
there is no religious holiday more important in Orthodox cultures
as Easter or "Paskha", as it is called in Russian. A special
bread also named Paskha is baked for this holiday and Easter eggs
are painted bright colours in celebration. Traditonally, the people
would take these items to their local church on the Eve of Easter
to have them blessed.
Easter
eggs are very important symbols of course. The Easter egg is a traditional
Easter gift presented to all friends and relatives upon meeting.
They would be accompanied with the traditional greeting of "Christ
is Risen", and in reply "Christ is truly alive".
